About the Teacher
My name is Lilit Bayburtian. I was born and raised in Armenia. It's a small mountainous country on the crossroads of Europe and Asia. I moved to USA when I was 18 years old. I am a graduate of University of Maryland where I have received my B.S. in Elementary Education and M.S. in Educational Technology. I taught 2nd grade at Rachel Carson Elementary School for 8 years. This is my third year teaching 4th grade at Wayside Elementary.
I am married and have three children: Gregor, Louisa, and Karina. I am fluent in three very different languages: Armenian, Russian, and English. I love reading, dancing, making flower arrangements, and traveling. My dream is to visit every country in the world and to learn Spanish and French. |
What is my Educational Philosophy?
I believe that my hard work and love towards teaching my students will guide them through their lives. I believe that I should not only teach "school subjects"(math, reading, etc.) but also life lessons on etiquette, relationship between friends, respect towards others and towards different opinions and much more. I want my students to become well educated adults with book knowledge, world knowledge, and street knowledge as well. I want them to become loved citizens of their community, work place, neighborhood, and the world; being a great mathematician is not enough.
The most important mottos in my class are to be the best at everything you do and to try to excel yourself when doing something the second time around. As an elementary school teacher, I believe I help parents of my students in creating stable foundation for my students to build their lives upon. My philosophy on teaching can be summarize by using this famous quote - " What we do in life echoes in eternity" by Maximus Decimus Meridius. |
